Reading: This week, we will continue our unit, Nonfiction, Cover to Cover. We will be working on finding the main idea and supporting details.
Language Arts/Phonics: red words are: does, when, they, busy Phonics: using the suffix ly and y ly: as a suffix sadly, badly, gladly, gravely, safely, lately y: Doubled (after a short vowel): muddy, funny, penny. daddy, happy, snappy Not doubled (after a long vowel): windy, dusty, rusty, rainy, misty, baby, lazy, pony, lady, tiny, cozy, slimy Writing: We will continue Our new writing unit is on informational writing. Social Studies: We will continue uniit on Civil Rights by studying Jimmy Carter. Math: 2.2 We are studying unit 4, Applying Base Ten Understanding. We will work on subtracting three digit numbers. Math 3.1: We are continuing to work on Unit 1 - using multiple strategies (properties of operations, place value, and the relationship between addition and subtraction) to add and subtract within 1,000. Math 3.2: We are working on Third Grade, unit 4. We are focusing on representing data on graphs. This week we will be focusing on line plots. We will start generating measurement data by measuring lengths using rulers marked with halves and fourths of an inch. Reading: This week, we are beginning our new reading unit, Nonfiction, Cover to Cover. As we read nonfiction, we are growing our knowledge. We will discuss with reading partners, "I used to think...but now I learned..."

Our new writing unit is on informational writing. Social Studies: We will continue uniit on Civil Rights by studying Jackie Robinson. Ask your child what contributions Jackie made. Why is he an important Georgian? Math: 2.2 We are studying unit 4, Applying Base Ten Understanding. We will work on balancing equations (example: 3+10=__+6). We are also learning about subtracting three digit numbers. Math 3.1: We will continue working on third grade math unit 1 Math 3.2: We are working on Third Grade, unit 4.
