Reading: We will be finishing our nonfiction reading unit. We will also read different versions of the Gingerbread man and compare and contrast the stories.
Phonics: Review Red Words: different, change, through Writing: We are finishing the informational writing unit. Math: 2.1 We will be working on telling time on an analogue clock. In first grade your child learned to tell time on the hour and half hour. In second grade, we will learn how to tell time to the nearest 5 minutes. Math 2.2: We will show what we have learned from units 4-6. We will also work on solving word problems Science: We will be doing a few science experiments. Reading: We will continue the unit: Nonfiction Readers Notice and Learn. As we read nonfiction books, our knowledge grows. We are growing our knowledge by reading multiple books on one subject.
We will also take the I-Ready reading diagnostic this week. Language Arts: Review proper nouns, commas, contractions, and possessive nouns. We will take a language arts check up on these concepts. Phonics: ay (clay, play, display, tray, sway, etc.) and oe (toe, doe, Monroe, Moe, etc). Red Words: often, group, watch, whose Writing: We are continuing informational writing. Math: 2.1 We will be working on telling time on an analogue clock. In first grade your child learned to tell time on the hour and half hour.
